Bilanac M

Composition:

  • Bilastine IP 20 mg

  • Montelukast Sodium IP 10 mg
    Therapeutic Class:

  • Antihistamine + Leukotriene Receptor Antagonist
    Schedule: Schedule H (Prescription Only)

Bilanac M is a dual-action anti-allergic formulation combining Bilastine, a non-sedating second-generation antihistamine, with Montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA). Together, they offer broad-spectrum allergy control by targeting both histamine- and leukotriene-mediated pathways, delivering superior symptom relief in allergic conditions.

Usage of Bilanac M

Bilanac M is indicated in the treatment of:

  • Allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial)

  • Chronic urticaria

  • Allergic conjunctivitis

  • Atopic dermatitis (adjunct)

  • Mild asthma with allergic component

  • Allergy-related nasal and skin symptoms unresponsive to monotherapy

Mechanism of Action

🔹 Bilastine (20 mg):

  • Selectively blocks H1 histamine receptors

  • Rapid onset and long-lasting (24-hour) anti-allergic action

  • Non-sedating with minimal CNS penetration

🔹 Montelukast (10 mg):

  • Inhibits cysteinyl leukotriene receptors (CysLT1)

  • Prevents leukotriene-mediated bronchoconstriction, mucus secretion, and inflammation

  • Useful in allergic rhinitis and asthma

The combination ensures dual-pathway control:

  • Histamine blockade (immediate-phase allergic response)

  • Leukotriene suppression (late-phase allergic inflammation)

Key Benefits

✅ Superior control of nasal and ocular symptoms
✅ Effective in nasal congestion, where antihistamines alone are weak
